My Dad is Jack Carter, the former Democratic candidate for Senate in Nevada. Currently, I am a graduate student in San Francisco studying Neuroscience.

On Saturday, I went to the big Obama rally held in Oakland. Obama gave an excellent speech, and the 10,000 people who came left very pumped up. Femlaw had a great diary over at Daily Kos about the event here, and Frank Russo at California Progress Report covered it as well.
I volunteered to help for the event, which means that I had to show up early and stay a little bit late. I was there for a total of almost six hours, and I was happy to help. What I want to tell you about today is how I got to be there.
Many of you know me because of my posts and work on behalf of my Dad, Jack Carter, who ran for US Senate in Nevada last year. You may also know that Jimmy Carter is my grandfather. While I was growing up, I was always aware of what was going on politically, but I was never involved. I would vote, but that was about it. I had never volunteered for a campaign, never gone to a rally, and never given money to someone running for office.
Until June of 2003.

Hi, everyone. Long time no see. Today I want to tell you about one thing that I've been doing since the campaign season ended. Some folks have asked me if I was going to take a break from politics after I worked so hard for my Dad, Jack Carter, in Nevada. And yes, for about a week, all I wanted to do was watch some football, have a few beers, and play Final Fantasy 12 on my PS2.
But one thing that's drawn me back in is an organization called Democrats Work. Democrats Work is a community service organization that helps people organize projects within their own neighborhoods. The idea is that people can get together and do good things for their communities as Democrats. Their slogan is "Putting our values into action."

Hi, folks. As many of you know, my Dad is Jack Carter, who's running for US Senate in Nevada. We're back on the air. I'll have the TV ads below (YouTube links and transcripts), a little bit of the coverage that my Dad got on his recent campaign swing through rural Nevada with Brian Schweitzer, and tell you about a new feature on the Carter Blog: "Outrageous Ensign Vote of the Day."
Hi, everyone. As you know, my Dad is Jack Carter, who's running for US Senate in Nevada. We're in the middle of a HUGE week on the campaign. My grandpa, Jimmy Carter, has been on a tour of Nevada with my Dad. They started out in the "rurals," were in Reno yesterday (I joined them there), and are doing events in Las Vegas today.
The coverage so far has been phenomenal. I'll tell you all about it.

Hi, everyone. As you may know, my Dad is Jack Carter, who's running for US Senate in Nevada. The pace of the campaign is accelerating rapidly and there's a whole lot going on. Today, I'll give you a couple of campaign updates, and then I'll give my fundraising pitch - we've got a good shot to win this race, but we're going to need all the money we can get to do it. The updates you'll get in this diary are: a Rasmussen poll that was just released on Friday showing us trailing by single digits; and news that John Ensign, my Dad's opponent, has finally agreed to some debates.

Hi, everyone. As you may know, my Dad is Jack Carter, who's running for US Senate in Nevada. He's been in the hospital recently with severe colitis. Good news on that front: he is now home from the hospital and doing well. He's beginning to ease back into his campaign schedule. Our only concern now is that he'll try to do too much too fast - he's not very good at sitting still.
What I want to point out today is the vast difference between my Dad and his opponent, John Ensign, on the issue of torture.

Hi, everyone. As many of you know, my Dad is Jack Carter, who's running for US Senate in Nevada. I hope you all had a good Labor Day. We had a big weekend for two reasons: 1) my Dad's first grandchild was born on Saturday to my brother Jason and his wife Kate; and 2) it marked the official beginning of the campaign season. Henry's birth has given us a little extra motivation as we head into the final two months of this campaign, and we're pretty excited.
The campaign is in great shape, but we're going to need your help (you can contribute money here).
